Joe Burum, Executive Director of the Showmen's League of America announced the schedule for the organization's 2012 Exhibitor's Lounge and Convention. The convention will run from Monday, November 26 through Wednesday, November 28th 2012 at the Paris & Bally's Hotel complex in Las Vegas.
Included on the schedule are the League's annual Meetings, Trade Show, Memorial Service, Joint Luncheon with the OABA and the highlight of the year, the President's Banquet. Sam Johnston is the 2012 Showmen's League President, serving in that office for the second time. Burum noted that while the banquet is the crown jewel of the convention, this year's event will feature a special surprise event that is sure to delight and entertain the crowd. Sam is not releasing details, but guarantees a fun, entertaining and highly enjoyable evening for all. The theme for this year's banquet is 'Shall We Dance?'.
Also on the agenda is the SLA Exhibitor's lounge, a trade show geared for carnival professionals featuring suppliers and manufacturers providing goods and services for the carnival industry. The two-day, low-key trade show is a favorite of exhibitors and attendees alike because of the quality time with exhibitors afforded by the format of the convention.
Allied Specialty Insurance is once again sponsoring a light lunch for all participants each day. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available to exhibitors and supporters. Burum said that the trade show nearly always sells out, but new exhibitors are always welcome to apply. He added that the League's agreement with the IAFE requires the IAFE's approval for all new exhibitors, so completed applications do not guarantee table space at the show
The SLA's touching Memorial Service will be held Monday after the trade show closes, on the Skyview Floor at Bally's. The Joint Luncheon with the OABA is set for Wednesday at 12:30 PM, also on the Skyview floor.
Burum encouraged all SLA members to attend the Tuesday morning annual meeting during the convention. He noted the significant changes in the by-laws to be voted on this year. Members can view the proposed changes on line at www.ShowmensLeague.org. Members can also provide feedback on the proposed changed by emailing Burum at JoeBurum@Gmail.com.
"All in all it promises to be a busy week full of networking, camaraderie and jackpotting along with accomplishing the business of the League and passing the President's torch to Chris Atkins, who will lead the SLA in our Centennial Year, 2013", Burum concluded.
